Kensington and Chelsea Adult Social Care Rated ‘Outstanding’

Kensington and Chelsea’s Adult Social Care has been rated Outstanding. A huge achievement made possible by residents’ feedback and experiences. This makes the Council one of only two local authorities in the country to receive an Outstanding rating for both adults and children’s services.

A shared success

We’re proud to share that Kensington and Chelsea’s Adult Social Care services have been rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This recognition reflects how your lived experiences have shaped the way services are delivered with respect, dignity, and compassion at the centre.

The CQC’s report praised the council’s “strong, visible person-centred culture” and highlighted how staff “placed people’s individual needs and wishes at the centre of everything they did.” That means your voice what matters to you is leading the way in how care is delivered.

Your voice in action

Cllr Emma Will, Lead Member for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Voluntary Sector, said:

“We want to support people to live well in their own homes and communities and put residents’ needs at the heart of what we do.”

This is something we hear all the time in your feedback, the importance of care that supports independence, dignity, and community connection. Your voices are reflected in this approach.

Sarah McClinton, President of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services, added:

“The CQC’s new role gives people who need care and support and carers much more information about the quality of services in their area. It's good to see how Kensington and Chelsea has been recognised for placing a real focus on people and relationships and working with local communities to provide good support.”

Kim Smith, Chief Executive of Kensington and Chelsea Council, said:

“Our Adult Social Care teams work with kindness and respect to support our residents and their families in the best way for them.”

We know that compassionate care can only happen when people feel truly seen and understood. That’s why your feedback to us is so important and why we’ll keep pushing for services that value your needs, your voice, and your well-being.

Looking ahead together

We’ll continue to work closely with you and the council to make sure care remains personal, responsive, and inclusive. This Outstanding rating is something we’ve achieved together, and it shows what’s possible when residents are at the heart of decision-making.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their experiences with us. Your stories are powerful, and they’re helping shape services that truly work for the people who use them.

If you’ve used adult social care services recently for yourself or someone you care for we want to hear from you.

Together, we can keep making care better for everyone in Kensington and Chelsea.

How does sharing your views make a difference?

You might think your feedback doesn’t have the power to change how health and social care services run. We want to show you how that isn’t the case.
