Resident doctors strike: December 2025

Resident doctors will begin a strike this week on Wednesday 17 December and is set to end on Monday 22 December.

All services will remain open. If you have an appointment on one of these days, please attend as usual; the NHS will contact you directly if your appointment changes.

Please be assured that the safety of all patients is always top priority and the NHS are working hard to put plans in place to ensure minimal impact on the quality and timeliness of the care you, your relative, or someone you care for receives over these days. 

Accessing emergency NHS services during this period

Regardless of any strike action taking place, it is important that people who need urgent medical care continue to come forward. If you need medical help or advice, or you’re unsure what to do, go to NHS 111 online, unless it is a life-threatening emergency when you should still call 999.
